Ian Kamau "Love & Other Struggles"
The Mixtape Vol. 3 :: Free Download
Ian Kamau drops the 3rd and final installment of his September Nine mixtape series... all building up to the release of his new album this summer!
Love & Other Struggles... My brother's writing is so personal on this one, so vulnerable, there's times when it feels like i'm listening to my own reflection. From the love of one's hometown, to love for a close homie struggling with mental health, to reflecting on grandparents passing, to times when a breakup feels like the apocalypse... to even feeling uncomfortable walking around in your city after you put your whole life on record... he even has his own version of Intl' Broken Hearts Anthem! Needless to say this whole mixtape is deeply felt, and i want to thank Ian Kamau for making music and putting it out there... and also for flipping K'naan's America track, and then coming back in with the original sample, and giving Tilahun Gessesse a shoutout! Kamau's probably tired of hearing it at this point but he's an honorary Habesha if i've ever met one. Support this brotha... he's the truth. "So love, we have to work at it instead..." - Ian Kamau

what's the beat he used on 'Summer In the City"? i know it, but can't remember. i'm pretty sure it's from a hip hop album that's fairly recent....
